About Jody
Much of Jody's childhood was spent homeless or in foster care, but he worked hard to stay in school and went on to study at the University Of Alaska.
He visited Ground Zero and the Pentagon shortly after the 9/11 attacks and was deeply moved, inspiring him to serve in the Army after college.
He was stationed in Iraq as the armorer for his unit and had looked forward to becoming an Alaska State Trooper after finishing his enlistment.
However, Jody died in 2008 in Killeen, Texas just a few days before he was to return to his home in Anchorage, Alaska.

I am sorry about your brother. I lost my sister in the spring of 2008 (after surgery). I don't know if you remember me but you, Jody, and your mother were at my house once when you were little and before you left Michigan. I know you and Jody had a hard childhood and the things you say are true. Remember, live, and move forward - don't stay stuck in the past.
